A Filter Press is an industrial solid–liquid separation device used to remove suspended solids from liquids by applying pressure filtration. It consists of a series of filter plates arranged in a stack, each covered with filter cloths, and held together within a sturdy frame.

During operation, slurry is pumped into the press under pressure. The liquid phase (filtrate) passes through the filter cloth and exits through designated outlets, while the solid particles are retained on the cloth, gradually forming a compact filter cake between the plates. As filtration continues, the cake thickness increases, enhancing separation efficiency. Once the filtration cycle is complete, the press is opened and the solid cakes are discharged
